About Me

I am a graduate of the Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University. I hold a Master's Degree in investigative journalism and a Bachelor of Arts in psychology.  I also served briefly as a Peace Corps volunteer in Malawi from 2019-2020.

Most of my experience in journalism thus far has been enterprise stories but have some experience with breaking news. I also dabble in multimedia and have experience producing audio stories, video editing, and photography. While I do not have one particular multimedia skill that I have honed and perfected throughout my journalism career, I am a fast learner and can do anything with time and patience. If you'd like to learn more about my experience, click on the 'CV' button next to the Twitter icon below.

Outside of journalism, I enjoy exercising, traveling, and discussing hip-hop.

Arizona Abortions Will Continue Until at Least Mid-November

Abortions in Arizona will continue until at least mid-November while an appeals court considers the case brought to them by Planned Parenthood of Arizona and the Arizona Attorney General’s Office.

The Arizona Court of Appeals on October 14 blocked the enforcement of a Civil War-era abortion ban that criminalizes anyone who helps a woman obtain an abortion and carries a prison sentence of 2 to 5 years. Under this law, the only exception to an abortion is when the life of the mother is at risk.

Many teachers, administrators, and public school advocates have been vocal in their opposition to the new la

Arizona School Vouchers—What They Are and How They Affect You

If every student who has applied so far uses their voucher, the new law is poised to move over $76.3 million from public schools to private.

Known as HB 2853, the new law allows any of the state’s 1.1 million students to pay for private schools using tax dollars set aside for the state education budge

Arizona Legislators Renew Call to Lift Cap on Education Spending

Gov. Doug Ducey has not yet made good on his promise to address a spending limit that blocks schools from accessing necessary funds in order to operate properly.

Democratic legislators and public school advocates on Sept. 15 called for a special legislative session to address the aggregate expenditure limit for Arizona public schools.

If no special session is called, public schools risk “catastrophic” budget cuts, potential teacher layoffs and furloughs, and suspension of school operations acr

Black migrants in Tapachula see nothing but racism and a dead end

TAPACHULA, Mexico – The wide street leading to the Instituto Nacional de Migración is lined with bright and bold murals affirming the human rights of all people without regard to their country of origin. However, many of the hundreds of Black migrants from Africa and Haiti who daily wait outside the office of INM say immigration officials, and the Mexican government in general, have failed to live up to those words. Migrants from across the globe can be seen on this street, clutching folders wit
